If you guys want to see process work, please click PART ONE or PART TWO. It will show you the process of how I got to where I was. ^^ And without further ado, here is the project that's been kicking my but for the past five months! Some turnarounds also. Forgive my cinematography skills. :) I'll try to upload a movie of the rest of the models later!

YOUTUBE TURNAROUNDS <--- also includes a look at my classmates' models.

Much love,

100. DAAPWORKS

100th post... Quite fitting for a person graduating in one week!

Hey guys! So I haven't submitted anything in a while, but that's because I've been busy finishing up college. ^^ I'm currently a soon-to-be graduate of the University of Cincinnati, college of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning. Also known as DAAP.
We're having our Senior show here at DAAP, and you are welcome to join! The opening is Tuesday June 5th (2 days!) and I'm thinking that I'll be there a majority of the time. I don't know how many of you guys have even heard of DAAP, but if you are interested in a design career for college, UC is definitely an option. I've enjoyed my five years here.

And no... it's not five years because I've been held back, it's literally a five-year program. They include 1.5 years of experience.

So if  you're around the cincy area or if you're a person just curious about Daap, just drop on by in the designated times! You might even bump into me!

My senior thesis will be in the transportation room, on level 6000. That's where all the automotive models will be. ^^

If you have any questions about DAAP or my experiences here, please leave a comment! I love answering questions about my school. Even if it's stuff like the cost of tuition, salary at internships, all-nighters, etc... Sure... DAAP doesn't have the name like Arts Center, Calarts, RISC, or CCS, but we're making a name for ourselves!

Looking forward to seeing all of you! And even if you don't make it opening day, it will be open for 3 days for practically the whole day. :)

93. Photoshop Rendering Tutorial: LaCie External Drive

Not my usual fare, but I think could be helpful for some of you... so here it is!

I'm a teacher's aid as an independent study, and as part of this project, I was supposed to do a photoshop tutorial. As long as it had chamfered and rounded edges, it was game, and something as simple as an external hard drive was preferred. This is for freshman students.

Again, as with all my tutorials, I do not have words describing each step. I'm quite literate, but I'm not a person who reads, and I pass my non-reading to you! For FREE.

91. Senior Capstone Advanced Development

More advanced level of supplemental study. Now these are becoming a little more clear in terms of more resembling a vehicle than say the Rorschach or Photoshop studies. The next batch will be a little more mechanical to resemble more true automotive specifications.

90. Senior Capstone Supplemental Studies (Rorschach)

Because my senior capstone is heavily tinged with the psychological aspect of the human psyche, it was very appropriate to use Rorschach tests as inspiration for design direction. I made about 45 and from that bunch I chose 25 that I felt were the most refined.

I'm not sure whether or not I will use these for potential overall silhouette design, or maybe the interior, but these Rorschachs will play a part of my final design.

I tried looking online for pictures of Rorschachs, but many of them were.... boring, so I had to do these myself, which definitely paid off. They're very simple to do, all you need is some black paint, water, a piece of paper, and a brush. Fold the paper in half hamberger or hotdog style, and then apply paint to one side. Once paint is applied, just fold the other half over and unfold, and voila! Adding a little water to the paint will allow you to get a watercolor texture, and can create a more overall polished design.

89. Senior Sketch Blitz 2 (Lancia Progress)

These are the sketches from my second sketch blitz. Now these were very fun just because many of them are proportionately very odd. I'm envisioning this car not to have wheels, because of my story that will go along with this.

BASIC STORY:

A revolutionary psychologist uses unconventional means to help his patients. He employs the use of a mind integration machine (virtual reality) and accompanies them on a path to learn more about them and to help them. He leads them on a journey in his Lancia, which is his own mental construct.

But why use a car in a mental journey? Cars are familiar to most, if not all people. Even the mental construct of a car can be a comforting image in an unstable mind. It establishes a familial point in a person's head and fits very well of the notion of taking a drive through a persons memories and psyche.

88. Ford Small Sports car

The beginning of another project for my automotive portfolio. Right now it's tentatively a small sports car for Ford. ^^ Hopefully I can get some more sketches up soon. ^^

87. Senior Thesis Sketch Blitz 1

Here is my first sketch blitz from my senior capstone. It is a capstone based on the brand Lancia which is owned by Fiat. For now, our professor recommended we just get some sketching started, just for us to get into the rhythm of sketching, so we'll be ready when we really get into our brand and our brand essence. My second sketch blitz will be more concentrated on Lancia styling.
