52. Autonomous Vehicle Sketch Blitz

This was a 50 count sketch blitz for my Design Communications class taught by Raphael Zammit.

I'll post later about the car, but basically my project this quarter is to design an interior and exterior for an autonomous 2-3 seater city vehicle. Since my project prompt stated that in a couple of years, the safety laws have changed dramatically to the positive response of new electric autonomous vehicle. Basically what that means is that I can change drastically the aesthetics of a car, make it smaller, with more economic use of space.

What would a car look like if it didn't need a steering wheel, seat belts, an IP, or a dash? If it was proven that autonomous vehicles were consistently safe, what could I take out, and how could I make the interior more conducive to everyday life? Maybe work on the go?

Sounds like a challenge, but definitely a fun challenge. Cheers!

Also saw the new Cars 2 trailer today. HOT.

50. Automotive Interior Sketches

Interior sketches. I'm not used to doing these, but these were actually quite fun! Our assignment for our regular trans studio was to do a variety of conventional interiors (middle) concept interiors (last) and seats (top).

Interiors are definitely more complex than exteriors, which is another aspect of trans that I haven't been keeping up on.

42. Sketch Blitz #2

Top image are some final directions for my city cars, and the bottom two are both luxury sedans, although one might be changed into a sport coupe, just depends on how we're feeling. :) I was going to try to get maybe a one-person personal commuter, however, none of the options were really jiving... ^^ Final concepts should be up soon.

41. Sketch Blitz #1

Our assignment for descom was to do 50 sketches of vehicles, and since I hadn't drawn cars in a bit, I think they turned out relatively well. I promise in my next sketch blitz that some of the cars will tilt. XD I seem to have a tough time enough as it is trying to get some semblance of proportion.

The top two pics are supposed to be energy efficient, small electric cars, with the top most sketch being more environmentally friendly with a smaller footprint. The middle pages of cars are to hold about 2-4 people while the top picture probably will only carry 1-2 people. The bottom picture is a luxury car compilation. We're supposed to pick three different vehicle types and these are the ones that I'll be refining in the next week or so.

Sails away!

These boats have no sails, but you know what I mean. These were boat sketches that were done for my design communication class. There were actually five pages of sketches, but I combined them to be on one page. :3

Eggs... in a basket

This was a drawing done during freshman year, black and white colored pencil on a warm gray paper, the name of which escapes me at the moment.

Very interesting piece to draw, because it's one of those works that you necessarily don't enjoy working on, but the end result makes you go huh... that actually wasn't so bad. :3

I also am envious of anyone who got to go to Botcon. XD

Hands... EVERYWHERE!

And yes, I consider this figure drawing even though there are no bodies to be found. I apologize for the wrinkly-ness of the papers. Each one of these drawings were on 18'x24" newsprint sheets, and for most of them, I had to combine two pictures to form one, hence some faint split lines.

Hands are surprisingly very fun to draw, just because they're more complex than I originally thought. Lots of contours. These hands are a mix between observation and drawing from memory. If you can't tell which is which, then that's a very good sign. :p

Cincinnati finally has a reasonably cool day. Hopefully it stays like this for a while! :3

Everyday Objects

As per my first post, here are some still life sketches of some everyday objects that I fround around the house. It was one of the first assignments of my Freshman Design Communications class.

It was quite the doozy. :)
